About this listing

Amalfi Coast Kosher Apartment offers a dedicated residential solution for Jewish travelers seeking to explore one of Italy’s most iconic landscapes without compromising on their dietary requirements. Located in the picturesque village of Ravello, this two-room apartment is positioned high above the Tyrrhenian Sea, providing expansive views of the coastline. The property serves as a self-contained retreat for couples or small families who require the convenience of a private home paired with the specific infrastructure necessary for observant Jewish life.

Ravello is frequently referred to as the pearl of the Amalfi Coast, distinguished by its tranquil atmosphere and elevation. Unlike the more crowded seaside towns below, this location preserves a sense of quietude and privacy. The apartment layout is designed to maximize the Mediterranean climate, featuring terrace access and modern comforts that ensure a seamless transition between sightseeing and rest. Whether visiting during the summer months or during the quieter winter season, the residence provides a stable base for exploring the Campania region.

About the area

The apartment is situated in Ravello, a hilltop town located approximately 365 meters above sea level. This vantage point offers some of the most famous views in Italy, overlooking the Gulf of Salerno. The Campania region has a long and varied history, and while it does not currently host a large year-round Jewish population outside of Naples, it is a region increasingly accessible to kosher travelers. The nearest major Jewish communal center is the Naples Jewish Community, which maintains a historic synagogue and provides resources for the wider region.

Logistically, the apartment is well-positioned for those looking to traverse the Amalfi Coast road (the SS163). While Ravello is a pedestrian-friendly village, the property provides parking for those arriving by car. Local transport links connect Ravello to Amalfi, Minori, and Maiori. For those traveling from abroad, Naples International Airport (Capodichino) is the primary gateway, located roughly 60 kilometers from the property. Travelers often find that the elevation of Ravello provides a cooler, more comfortable climate than the seaside level during the peak of summer.

Nearby Jewish landmarks

Situated in the heart of Ravello, the apartment is within walking distance of the famous Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo, known for their historic gardens and architecture. Visitors can stroll through the village's cobblestone streets to discover local artisan shops and panoramic viewpoints that have inspired artists for centuries. For those interested in regional history, the Duomo di Ravello, dating back to the 11th century, is a central landmark in the town square.

While Ravello itself is a quiet mountain retreat, the nearby town of Amalfi is easily accessible by car or local bus, offering a bustling harbor and the historic Amalfi Cathedral. Further down the coast, Positano offers iconic cliffside views, while the city of Salerno provides a more urban setting with its own historic district. Many guests use this location as a base to visit the ruins of Pompeii or the temples of Paestum, both of which are feasible day trips from the Amalfi Coast region.

What to expect

Guests can expect a well-appointed living space that prioritizes functionality and comfort. The apartment is equipped with air conditioning and heating, ensuring a pleasant stay regardless of the season. For relaxation after a day of hiking or touring, the unit includes a hot tub and an outdoor terrace with furniture, allowing visitors to dine or rest while viewing the Mediterranean. Connectivity is provided through Wi-Fi, and the living area includes a television and a selection of games and books.

Specifically for the kosher traveler, the property offers flexibility in its culinary setup. The kitchen can be prepared for kosher use, featuring an oven, microwave, and coffee maker. Essential religious items, including a Kiddush cup set, Siddur, and Chumash, are kept on-site. The provision of a hot plate and a Shabbat timer allows guests to observe Shabbat with ease. The apartment also includes practical household items such as an iron, ironing board, and basic toiletries like body wash and shampoo, reducing the need for extensive packing.
