Religious life & Shabbat
We are honored to have two esteemed Rabbinical scholars with us:
Rabbi Dr. Seth Grauer
Rabbi Dr. Seth Grauer serves as the Rosh Yeshiva and Head of School of the Bnei Akiva Schools in Toronto. His career in education has included lead administrative roles at Yeshiva University High School for Girls and the Ramaz Upper School. Rabbi Grauer also served as the Associate Rabbi at the Fifth Avenue Synagogue in Manhattan.
Rabbi Grauer has held many lay positions including currently as the Honorary President of Mizrachi Canada and the Treasurer of the Rabbinical Council of America. He learned for many years at both Yeshivat Har Etzion (“Gush”) in Israel and Yeshiva University, where he received his B.A., semicha and his doctorate. Rabbi Grauer also earned a J.D. from Fordham Law School.
Rabbi Daniel Lapin
Rabbi Daniel Lapin, best-selling author and host of The Rabbi Daniel Lapin Show on The Blaze Radio, appears live before more than twenty-five thousand people each year. Through his books, broadcasts and speeches, he has become one of America’s most compelling and persuasive voices of practical Torah. With his wife, Susan, he also hosts the daily TCT television show Ancient Jewish Wisdom.
He is president of the American Alliance of Jews and Christians, the national organization promoting Biblically-based Judeo-Christian values. Before immigrating to the US in 1973, Rabbi Lapin studied Torah, physics, economics and mathematics in Johannesburg, London and Jerusalem. Rabbi Daniel Lapin was the founding rabbi of Pacific Jewish Center, a now legendary Orthodox synagogue in Venice, California.
In addition to the inspiring Divrei Torah and lectures, we are thrilled to present a diverse and distinguished group of speakers, who are among the most sought after in their respective fields.
Dennis Prager
This year, we welcome Dennis Prager, a New York Times bestselling author of five books, a syndicated columnist, and a nationally syndicated radio talk show host broadcasted on more than 130 stations in America and internationally on the internet. With a repertoire of expertise that spans from American values and antisemitism to the Middle East, Dennis has lectured on all seven continents. Equally at home in the secular and religious worlds, he taught the first five books of the Torah verse by verse, for over 25 years at the American Jewish University in Los Angeles. Dennis is also the co-founder of Prager University, which features culturally relevant, digital content that is watched by millions of viewers weekly.
Jeannie Opdyke Smith
Also joining us is international speaker Jeannie Opdyke Smith, who will share the riveting true story of her mother, Irene Opdyke, a righteous gentile who saved 12 Jews while serving as a housekeeper for a high-ranking Nazi official during the Holocaust. Irene’s unforgettable story of courage, determination and forgiveness is part of a permanent exhibit in the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, was made into an off-Broadway play, and is portrayed in the memoir, In My Hands- Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer.
Susan Lapin
A competent sailor, homeschooling mother and entrepreneur, Susan Lapin helped lead the legendary Pacific Jewish Center of Venice, California with her husband, Rabbi Daniel Lapin. During that time, while lecturing to women on marriage, parenting, and Tanach, Susan began homeschooling their seven children, which she did for 16 years. In addition to public speaking, she now writes a widely read column, Susan’s Musings, and has co-written many books, and co-hosts the Ancient Jewish Wisdom TV Show on the TCT television network.
A unique addition to our calendar is our very own mini Jewish film festival. Best of the Fest is a curated selection of the most acclaimed Jewish and Israeli cinema from around the world.
