About this listing

The Mangia's Torre Del Barone Resort stands as a premier five-star destination in Sovareto, Sicily, offering a refined environment for the Passover holiday. Newly restored and situated within an expansive park, the resort provides a balanced atmosphere of natural greenery and Mediterranean coastal views. For the 2025 season, the property transitions into a fully Glatt Kosher LeMehadrin environment, catering to travelers who seek high-end comfort combined with uncompromising religious standards.

As a seasonal program, the resort focuses on delivering a comprehensive holiday experience where every detail—from the private beach access to the specialized culinary offerings—is tailored for the Jewish community. Guests can expect a quiet, professional service atmosphere designed to facilitate both relaxation and religious observance during the Pesach period.

About the area

Situated in the scenic Sciaccamare area of southwestern Sicily, the resort is positioned near the historic port town of Sciacca. This region is renowned for its thermal baths and spectacular coastline. Sicily itself holds a deep Jewish history dating back to antiquity, with significant historical sites located across the island. While the resort provides a secluded retreat, it serves as a gateway to the broader cultural landscape of the Agrigento province.

The property is easily accessible from Sicily's major airports, providing a Mediterranean escape that feels remote yet remains connected to the island's famous archaeological landmarks. The layout of the resort maximizes its position on the coast, ensuring that the sea is a constant presence throughout the stay.

Nearby Jewish landmarks

Located in the heart of the Mediterranean, the Sciacca area offers a wealth of exploration for guests interested in history and natural beauty. The nearby Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, a UNESCO World Heritage site, provides a profound look into ancient Greek civilizations and is a common excursion for Jewish travelers visiting Sicily. Within the town of Sciacca, the Castello Incantato (Enchanted Castle) and the historic coral workshops offer a glimpse into local artistry.

For those interested in Jewish heritage, the island of Sicily has a long and storied history. While the local Jewish population in Sciacca is small, visitors can still find traces of the Giudecca (historic Jewish quarters) in nearby towns. The thermal springs of Sciacca, famous since Roman times, provide a natural wellness supplement to the resort's private spa facilities.

What to expect

Visitors to this five-star resort can expect a sophisticated stay centered around the Passover program’s rigorous kashrut requirements. The culinary experience is a primary focus, featuring a menu that adheres to no kitniot and no gebrocht standards, utilizing only Shmura Matza and Badatz products. The chefs prepare Mediterranean-inspired dishes that respect both local flavors and halachic boundaries.

Religious life is well-supported with organized Ashkenazy and Sephardic minyanim, ensuring all guests feel at home during prayer services. Daily Shiurim and a Siyum are also integrated into the holiday schedule. For recreation, the resort offers private white sand beach access with dedicated umbrellas and sunbeds, alongside two thermal centers and a full-service spa. Whether traveling for spiritual growth or physical rejuvenation, guests find a structured yet relaxing environment suitable for the entire family.
