Beit Jabad Uruguay, located in the Pocitos neighborhood of Montevideo, is the central pillar of Chabad activities in the country. Under the leadership of the Shemtov family, the center provides a massive array of services:
Synagogue: Daily and Shabbat services (Minyanim).
Education: "Kids in Action" (Niños Judíos en Acción) Day School, Hebrew School, and adult Torah study.
Women’s Groups: Neshei Montevideo offers specialized programming and events.
Mikvah: The "Mei Menujos" Mikvah is located nearby at Ellauri 1270.
Youth & Family: "Mamá y Yo" children's club and summer camps.
About the provider
Established in 1985 by Rabbi Eliezer and Rochel Shemtov, Jabad Uruguay has grown from a small initiative into a national network including a day school and a major summer branch in Punta del Este. We are dedicated to providing every Jew in Uruguay—resident or tourist—with a place to learn, pray, and feel at home.
