Home · Contact · List your business About this listing The Summer 2019 South Italy Tour offers a structured travel experience through the most celebrated landscapes of the Italian coast. Based out of Sorrento, this itinerary is designed specifically for Jewish travelers seeking to balance rigorous sightseeing with high-standard kosher observance. Participants are invited to explore a region defined by dramatic cliffs, ancient ruins, and azure waters, all while supported by a professional dedicated to maintaining a seamless kosher environment throughout the journey.
About the region This journey focuses on the Campania region of Southern Italy, an area steeped in Mediterranean history and natural beauty. The tour centers around the Sorrento Peninsula, a gateway to the Amalfi Coast. Travelers will navigate the winding roads to picturesque towns like Positano and Ravello, which have attracted visitors for centuries with their perched architecture and lemon groves. The itinerary also delves into the historical significance of Pompeii, the Roman city preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Further explorations take the group to the island of Capri, including the heights of Anacapri, and the Royal Palace of Caserta, a Bourbon residence known for its expansive gardens and Baroque architecture. While Southern Italy has a historic Jewish presence dating back to the Roman era, modern kosher infrastructure is sparse, making a structured tour essential for observant travelers visiting these specific coastal landmarks.
What to expect Guests can expect a well-paced itinerary that prioritizes both comfort and cultural immersion. Accommodations are provided at the Nellona Hotel in Sorrento, featuring views of the sea and convenient access to the region's main attractions. Transportation between sites is managed via a private, air-conditioned tour bus, ensuring a comfortable transit through the undulating Italian terrain. A highlight of the experience is the sailing excursion to Capri and the ascent via cable car to capture panoramic views of the coastline.
Kashrut logistics are a central component of the tour. All meals are prepared Kosher Mehadrin by a specialized Italian chef, ensuring that traditional local flavors are enjoyed within the parameters of Jewish law. The program provides a separate kitchen setup for food preparation. During the week, the tour operates on a half-board basis with breakfast and dinner served at the hotel, supplemented by packaged lunches for the day's adventures. Shabbat is observed with full board service, allowing the group to rest and dine together in a communal setting. This tour is ideally suited for families and individuals who value professional logistics and a high standard of kashrut while exploring international destinations.
