This sweet, hamish, much-loved Cape Code-stye Kosher home is in a very Jewish L.A. neighborhood in southern California's San Fernando Valley. It's around the corner from Shaary Tzedek orthodox synagogue, a Chabad center, the Emek school, and more. In the heart of Valley Village, it sits in a quiet tree-lined cul-de-sac populated almost entirely by Orthodox families.
The upstairs features three brightly lit carpeted bedrooms with two full baths and very large windows. The master has a full size bed, with room for a crib or cot. The two upstairs guest bedrooms are equipped with four and three beds each. All have good-sized closets. The house has both central heat and air.
Downstairs is a central hall plan with a very large, beautifully furnished living room/dining room area, recently-installed dark wooden flooring and large windows facing out into the pool area.
A carpeted study features room for good office capability, and two large couches featuring a queen-sized fold-out bed. There is a half-bath off the downstairs hallway.
The kitchen features a large single sink, gas stove and micro-wave, along with a good-sized refrigerator. Stove is Kosher, and has been used to cook fish but not meat. There is a nook table for eating, plus a washer and a drier in a side room.
The pool is an 18,000-gallon kidney shape, roughly 15 by 30, about nine feet at the deep end, with an outdoor shower. It gets good sun and heats up to the mid-eighties in the summer, with plenty of good use for children. From fall to spring it ranges in temperature from the high seventies into the sixties. It has a strong manually removable plastic cover to help retain heat and reduce evaporation. There are no lifeguards or supervisory services provided and you and yours will swim at your own risk.
Our very comfortable stuffed couch under the pool-area porch roof is perfect for lazy sunning and lounging. There's a small table and many chairs for informal meals, plus a small freezer for outdoor treats.
The house features one private parking space. Generally more parking spaces are available on the street in the front of the house. Trash and organic materials are picked up in large bins by the city once per week. The front yard is covered in white gravel to maximize water conservation and avoid dust coming into the house.
We are a short distance from the 101 and 405 freeways. During off-peak traffic, we are within forty minutes of downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, Burbank, Beverly Hills, the Getty and Skirball Musems; about fifteen minutes to Universal Studios; about 20 minutes to the Santa Monica pier and beach; about 40 minutes, through Topanga Canyon to Will Rogers Park and the Santa Monica-Venice bike path; under an hour to the Malibu Pier and Beach, where there is a Kosher Fish Grill restaurant.
Public transportation is abundant nearby, as are kid-friendly Hazeltine and Beaman Parks. Balboa Park is about twenty minutes off-peak.
Nearby Chandler Avenue is bike-friendly. LA Fitness is five minutes away, as is Cambridge Market, which is entirely kosher. Also nearby are Trader Joe's, Ralph's, Whole Foods, CVS, Rite-Aid, an Apple store, a post office, hair and nail spas, and a number of Kosher and other restaurants.
We are within twenty minutes of the passenger-friendly Burbank/Bob Hope airport, where there is also an Amtrak Station.
This is a lovely, quiet, righteous family home in a beautiful neighborhood that allows you a small town Jewish existence in the midst of a huge, legendary coastal city with so much to offer. Enjoy!!
