About this listing

Chabad Of Zetland serves as a vital Jewish hub in the heart of Zetland, New South Wales. This center is dedicated to fostering Jewish life and providing a warm, welcoming environment for both local residents and international visitors. Managed by Rabbi Zalman Goldstein, the center focuses on community outreach, religious education, and essential Jewish services in a modern urban setting.

As a Chabad House, the establishment functions as more than just a place of prayer; it is a community home where individuals can engage with their heritage. Whether you are looking for a place to daven, interested in one-on-one Torah study, or in need of practical Jewish assistance such as Mezuzah checking, this center provides a reliable point of contact within the Sydney metropolitan area.

About the area

Zetland is a rapidly growing suburb located just four kilometers south of the Sydney Central Business District. Once an industrial heartland, it has been transformed into a contemporary residential and commercial district characterized by high-rise apartments and green spaces like East Village. For Jewish travelers, this location offers a unique advantage, being positioned between the city’s commercial core and the traditional Jewish neighborhoods of the Eastern Suburbs.

The center is conveniently situated near major transport links, making it accessible for those commuting from other parts of New South Wales. It serves as a bridge for the Jewish community living in the newer developments of Zetland, Alexandria, and Waterloo, ensuring that traditional Jewish life remains accessible in this evolving part of the city.

Nearby Jewish landmarks

The Zetland and Waterloo corridor is becoming a hub for young Jewish professionals and families who appreciate the proximity to both the city center and the established Jewish infrastructure of South-East Sydney. While the immediate neighborhood is sleek and modern, it is only a short drive or bus ride to the historic Jewish centers of Bondi and Rose Bay.

Those staying in the area can easily access Centennial Park, a vast green space frequently used by the local community for walks and recreation. For those requiring a mikvah or more extensive kosher shopping, the drive to the Bondi area takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes, where several established communal facilities serve the wider Sydney region.

The presence of a Chabad House in this specific pocket of Sydney provides a crucial Jewish "anchor" in an area that was previously underserved. This makes it a strategic base for Jewish travelers who have business at the nearby University of New South Wales (UNSW) or the airport, yet still wish to maintain a connection to a traditional Jewish environment.

Visitors to Chabad Of Zetland can expect a hospitable and inclusive atmosphere. The center is known for its focus on education and personal growth, offering communal lectures and personalized learning sessions. For families, the center provides children’s and youth programming, creating an environment where the next generation can connect with their roots.

The facility also serves those moving into the area or looking to upgrade their religious observance at home.
