About this listing

Chabad On Campus Manchester serves as a central hub for Jewish life in the southern districts of Manchester, England. Located on Waller Avenue, this Chabad House focuses on providing a warm, inclusive environment for students, residents, and travelers. Led by Rabbi Eli Simon, the center is dedicated to maintaining Jewish tradition through education, hospitality, and communal support.

Whether you are a student attending one of Manchester's world-class universities or a Jewish traveler passing through the North West of England, the center offers a reliable point of contact for religious needs. The mission of the house is to ensure that every Jewish person in the area has access to meaningful engagement and support, regardless of their background or level of observance.

About the area

Situated at 3 Waller Avenue in the M14 area, the Chabad House is positioned in a vibrant part of South Manchester. This location is particularly well-suited for students and faculty members of the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University, as it sits within the primary residential area for the city's academic community.

Manchester is home to one of the largest and most historic Jewish communities in the United Kingdom. While the largest concentrations of synagogues and kosher facilities are famously located in the northern suburbs like Prestwich, Broughton Park, and Crumpsall, this Chabad location provides an essential presence in the southern corridor. Its proximity to Oxford Road and the city center makes it a convenient stop for those utilizing Manchester’s extensive public transport system.

Nearby Jewish landmarks

The Fallowfield and Withington areas are convenient for those visiting the local universities. While the main hubs of the Manchester Jewish community are located in the north of the city (such as Prestwich and Whitefield), this central-south location serves as a vital outpost for Jewish life in the student district.

Didsbury is a short distance away, offering additional green spaces and quiet residential streets. For those looking for a wider variety of kosher grocery stores and bakeries, the established Jewish neighborhoods of North Manchester are accessible via a 20-30 minute drive or via the city's bus and tram networks.

Cultural landmarks such as the Manchester Jewish Museum, located on Cheetham Hill Road, are within reach for those interested in the heritage of one of the UK’s oldest Jewish communities. The proximity to the city center and the main hospital complexes also makes this Chabad House a useful contact point for families visiting patients or those in town for academic conferences.

Visitors to Chabad On Campus Manchester can expect a friendly and non-judgmental atmosphere. The center offers a variety of services including regular Torah classes, adult education programming, and one-on-one study sessions. This makes it an ideal destination for those looking to deepen their understanding of Jewish texts and traditions while in the city.
