About the area

Situated in the village of West Byfleet, the center is located in a leafy, professional suburb of Woking in the county of Surrey. This location offers a peaceful alternative to the bustling Jewish centers of North London like Hendon or Golders Green, while remaining connected via excellent rail links to Waterloo Station in Central London.

The surrounding area is characterized by its residential charm and proximity to major Surrey landmarks. Historically, the Jewish presence in Surrey has been spread across various satellite communities, and Chabad of Surrey acts as a central point of contact for families living in West Byfleet, Weybridge, and Woking. This geographical position makes it an essential resource for those seeking a minyan or kosher guidance outside of the primary London eruv zones.

Nearby Jewish landmarks

While West Byfleet is a quieter residential area, it serves as a strategic base for exploring the Jewish landscape of the wider Surrey and South West London region. For those willing to travel a short distance, the historic Richmond Synagogue and the vibrant Jewish community in Kingston provide additional opportunities for communal engagement and larger-scale events.

Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to Wisley Gardens and the scenic Wey Navigation canal, both of which offer peaceful settings for reflection and outdoor activities during a stay in the area. These green spaces are popular among local Jewish families for Sunday outings and holiday walks.

The Chabad House is positioned within reach of Heathrow Airport, making it a convenient stop for Jewish travelers arriving in the UK who require assistance with tefillin, kosher food guidance, or a place to daven before continuing their journey into Central London or the southern counties.
