Almere itself is a relatively young city, and the Jewish community here is growing and vibrant. Within reach of the Chabad house is the Weerwater lake , a central feature of the city that provides walking paths and green spaces suitable for a quiet Shabbat afternoon stroll.
For those traveling with a car, the Jewish Historical Museum and the historic Portuguese Synagogue in Amsterdam are approximately a 30-minute drive away, making Almere a convenient base for exploring Dutch Jewish heritage. The nearby Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve offers vast landscapes and birdwatching opportunities for families seeking outdoor activities.
