This Chabad house fills that role, offering a warm atmosphere rooted in Chassidic philosophy and traditional Jewish values. Whether you are passing through for a sporting event at the nearby stadium or staying for academic purposes, the center serves as a "home away from home" for the Jewish community.

About the area Miami Gardens is a significant city within north-central Miami-Dade County, characterized by its residential neighborhoods and major commercial attractions. The Chabad center is conveniently positioned near the intersection of NW 37th Avenue and the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826), making it accessible for those traveling across the South Florida region.
Locating Jewish services in the immediate Miami Gardens area can be a unique experience compared to the densely populated Jewish corridors of Miami Beach or Boca Raton. However, its proximity to North Miami Beach—a major center for Orthodox Jewish life—means that residents and visitors are only a short drive away from numerous synagogues, mikvaot, and an eruv that spans several neighboring communities.
The location provides a strategic advantage for those attending games or concerts at the Hard Rock Stadium. Having a Jewish presence in this part of the county ensures that students and visitors have a point of contact for holiday programming and Jewish guidance in an area where such resources were historically less prevalent.
Nearby Jewish landmarks While the center serves the immediate university area, visitors often explore the broader Miami-Dade Jewish ecosystem. The Skylake and North Miami Beach neighborhoods, located roughly 15 to 20 minutes east, offer a high concentration of kosher amenities, including well-known supermarkets like Kosher Kingdom and various bakeries.
Sports and entertainment enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the Hard Rock Stadium, which often draws large crowds for major events. For those seeking quiet outdoor spaces, the nearby Snake Creek Trail offers a peaceful environment for walking. The Jewish community in Aventura is also within driving distance, providing access to dozens of high-end kosher dining options and large Sephardic and Ashkenazi synagogues.
Educational and cultural landmarks are abundant in the region. Visitors can easily plan day trips to the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach or explore the historic Jewish museums in the city, making the Chabad at St. Thomas University a strategic starting point for travelers navigating North Miami.
What to expect Visitors to Chabad at St. Thomas University can expect a focus on campus outreach and student engagement. The environment is typically informal and welcoming, designed to accommodate the busy schedules of university life. While its primary function is to serve the student body, guests are often welcomed for holiday events and educational sessions.
Educational programs frequently include one-on-one Torah study, discussions on Jewish ethics, and seasonal workshops such as Shofar making or Matzah baking. The level of hospitality is a hallmark of the Chabad movement, so travelers can expect helpful guidance regarding local kosher availability and nearby religious services in the greater Miami area.
It is important to note that this is a campus-anchored facility. As such, the intensity of programs may fluctuate with the academic calendar. During the High Holidays and major festivals like Hanukkah and Passover, the center often organizes special events to ensure that no Jewish person in the area is without a place to celebrate.
