About this listing

Chabad Lubavitch of Delaware serves as the primary cornerstone for Jewish life and observance in Wilmington. Under the leadership of Rabbi Chuni Vogel, this center provides a dedicated space for prayer, education, and communal connection. It functions not only as a spiritual home for local residents but also as a vital resource for Jewish travelers passing through the First State.

Located on Silverside Road, the center offers a comprehensive suite of services tailored to traditional Jewish needs. From daily and weekly services to holiday celebrations, the atmosphere is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to Jews of all backgrounds and levels of observance. Whether you are visiting for business at one of Wilmington's many corporate offices or exploring the Brandywine Valley, this Chabad House offers the necessary infrastructure for a Jewish lifestyle.

About the area

Situated in the northern suburbs of Wilmington, the Chabad House is conveniently located near the intersection of Silverside Road and Marsh Road. This area is characterized by its quiet residential character and easy access to major transit corridors like Interstate 95 and Highway 202. Its location makes it a strategic stop for those traveling between Baltimore or Washington D.C. and the Northeast.

The Brandywine Hundred area, where the center is located, is historically significant and home to many of Delaware’s Jewish families. While Wilmington does not have a "Jewish district" in the sense of a large metropolitan area like New York, the Silverside Road corridor is a familiar landmark for the local community. The center acts as a focal point, connecting the various pockets of Jewish residents across New Castle County.

Nearby Jewish landmarks

The neighborhood surrounding Silverside Road provides a suburban setting with several points of interest for visitors. Rockwood Park and Museum is a short drive away, offering scenic walking trails and historic architecture for those looking to enjoy Delaware's outdoor spaces.

For those requiring additional Jewish infrastructure, the Siegel JCC (Jewish Community Center) is located nearby on Garden of Eden Road. This hub serves as a central point for the local Jewish community and features fitness facilities, a preschool, and various cultural events throughout the year.

Travelers will find a range of shopping options along Concord Pike, including grocery stores that stock foundational kosher products. While specialized kosher dining in Delaware is limited, the proximity to the Pennsylvania border allows for relatively easy access to the more extensive kosher resources of the Greater Philadelphia area, located about 30 to 40 minutes north.

What to expect

Visitors to Chabad Lubavitch of Delaware can expect a warm, traditional environment focused on communal welfare and Torah values. The facility houses a synagogue for regular services, a library for quiet study, and a Judaica gift shop for those needing religious items or gifts. The programming is diverse, ranging from one-on-one Torah study sessions to women's groups and senior visitation programs.

For families, the center provides a range of youth-oriented activities, including Bar and Bat Mitzvah instruction and "Mommy and Me" classes. Education is a core pillar here, with adult education seminars and communal lectures held regularly to keep the community engaged with Jewish thought and practice.

Practical support for Jewish living is also a priority. The center offers kitchen koshering services for those looking to establish a kosher home, as well as hospital visitation for those in local medical facilities.
