About this listing

Hotel La Brunerie offers a dedicated kosher winter experience in the heart of Les Deux Alpes, one of France's premier high-altitude ski resorts. This establishment caters specifically to Jewish families looking for a seamless blend of professional ski conditions and strict adherence to kashrut. During the winter sessions, typically running from late December through early January, the hotel transforms into a hub for the community, providing a comfortable base for enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Positioned to take advantage of the vast alpine terrain, the hotel emphasizes convenience and family-oriented service. Guests can enjoy the benefit of modern amenities while being surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Whether you are visiting for the world-class skiing or the structured youth programs, the hotel provides a structured environment where religious needs and vacation relaxation coexist.

About the area

Located in the Isère department of the French Alps, Les Deux Alpes is situated on a high plateau at 1,650 meters. The resort is unique for its "upscale" mountain layout, where the gentler slopes are found higher up on the glacier, making it accessible for beginners to enjoy high-altitude views usually reserved for experts. Hotel La Brunerie is centrally positioned within this resort, offering easy access to the local infrastructure.

While the resort is a temporary destination for Jewish travelers during peak winter periods, the presence of an on-site synagogue and organized kosher catering creates a communal atmosphere. The surrounding Oisans region has a long history of tourism, and while there is no permanent large-scale Jewish neighborhood in the immediate mountains, the hotel serves as a focal point for the Sephardic and Ashkenazi travelers who frequent the French Alps. Major transport links are usually accessed via Grenoble, which serves as the primary gateway to the Oisans valley.

Outdoor and Local Highlights

Les Deux Alpes is famous for its high-altitude glacier, which allows for consistent snow conditions throughout the winter season. Beyond the slopes directly accessible from the hotel, the area offers several points of interest for visitors:

The Glacier 3600: One of the largest skiable glaciers in Europe, offering breathtaking views of Mont Blanc and the Ecrins National Park.

Ice Cave (Grotte de Glace): Located at 3,200 meters, this cave features intricate ice sculptures that change annually.

The Village Center: A lively hub with various shops and boutiques, all within walking distance of the hotel.

Panoramic Views: The resort provides several "Belvédère" viewpoints looking out over the Romanche valley and the surrounding peaks of the Oisans massif.

What to expect

Guests checking into Hotel La Brunerie can expect a well-organized program designed around the Jewish calendar and the specific needs of kosher travelers. The atmosphere is family-friendly and active, with a focus on maximizing time on the snow. As a ski-in/ski-out property, the transition from the breakfast room to the ski lifts is efficient, allowing groups to make the most of the daylight hours.

The culinary experience is a central pillar of the stay. All meals are served under Glatt Kosher Mehadrin supervision, providing full board service so that guests do not need to worry about food preparation or sourcing during their holiday. Expect a variety of international and traditional dishes prepared to high standards. For those traveling with children, the dedicated Kids Club and Baby Club provide age-appropriate activities, while ESF (Ecole du Ski Français) lessons can be coordinated through the hotel, ensuring that even the youngest skiers are well-looked after. After a day on the mountain, the indoor pool offers a place for relaxation, and the evening entertainment program provides a space for social connection within the community.
