About us

Kosher Great Neck

Serge Gorge Executive Chef and Restaurateur is passionate, well experienced and an innovative cook that has dedicated his life to career in culinary arts.

Born in Luxembourg to parents with a long restaurant career, Gorge’s family immigrated to Israel when he was 10 and settled in Elat. After serving in the army, Gorge helped his parents in their restaurant, where his love for food began. He went to study in the Culinary School of Luzon, Switzerland and right after that, opened La Bourse restaurant in Luxembourg .

In 1980, Gorge moved back to Elat and opened the most successful restaurant called The Blue Fish. In 1997, Gorge came to NY and right away he knew he was home. It was then that he started a new chapter in his career and made it his mission to elevate the level of fine dining in the kosher restaurant industry.

At the turn of the 21st century, in 2000 Gorge consulted and served as Executive Chef of Circa in Manhattan.

In 2001, Serge established the Bistro Grill, Steak Masters French Cuisine and the Bistro Deli in Great Neck, NY. As owner and Chef, Gorge set a new standard in kosher food and brought new kosher flavors onto the palette of the kosher consumer. The restaurant’s emphasis was the quality of the aged steaks, the unique menu and the beautiful elegant French decor with a romantic atmosphere. Serge Gorge received the Gold Medal Award from Long Island Food Critic as the Best Kosher Restaurant in Long Island for 2011 and was awarded as well by Nick Cannon from his NY Radio Show as the one of the five best Deli Sandwiches in NY.

In 2003, Gorge opened an upscale and unique kosher restaurant, Box Tree, with Moshe Lox. It was an entirely new concept in kosher dining, superb French cuisine served together with a choice of dining experiences in exquisitely designed restaurant with the ambiance and flavor of a charming European inn.

In 2011, Serge Gorge and his wife Yardena, as the manager, opened Meat Me, a French American Steak House and the most upscale restaurant on the upper west side in Manhattan.

As time passed, the Gorge’s missed their home town in Great Neck and the local residents begged them to come back. The Gorge’s responded to their fans by opening Bistro Burger. With a casual look and feel, Gorge is taking his years of experience in kosher restaurant fine dining and putting out a top quality but reasonably priced menu.

This restaurant emphasizes special burgers and Gorge’s famous sandwiches, with the signature Bistro Special. Bistro Burger also offers salads, aged marinated steaks and all of Gorge’s other popular items. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, available for catering and parties, and has a liquor license for beer and wine.
