One of my strongest childhood memories is the cooking smells and the big pots my mother used to cook for me and my seven brothers. I grew up in the city of Yokneam in a religious family. Dad worked in a factory and Mom raised us at home.
In the evenings after work, I would stand next to my mother in the kitchen and carefully follow every mixing pot or movement of my mother in an attempt to decipher the secret of magic and the secret of love in my mother's hand. Implied, food always called me with a loving hug.
I met my dear wife in Israel when she came from Germany to volunteer at the factory where I worked. After a few sessions, I decided to invite her to a Friday dinner at my parents' house. She always describes this moment when my mother tasted my cooking as her second love - after me of course! As the saying goes: "Behind every successful man stands a strong and successful woman." Thus she pushed me to thoroughly learn the art of cooking claiming that I inherited the secret of magic from my mother, but a professional study of the practice could bring happiness and warm the hearts of many people. In 2003 I moved with my wife to Berlin. The thought of leaving my home and family in Israel and living so far away was difficult. As Yehuda Halevi said in his poem: "My heart is in the east and I am in the end in the west." But I regarded the move to Berlin as a mission. I started my new path in Germany with kosher cooking for students in Jewish study centers. The fact that my mother's love is spread and passed on to the Jewish youth in Germany excites me time and time again.
In 2005, in light of the success in the Jewish centers, I received a tempting offer and joined one of the great chefs in a well-known hotel chain that over time became a warm home and family. After 10 years in the hotel kitchen I felt a new wind in the sails and my ship sent its anchor at the home port and at its final destination: Ibgis training!
