Whether you are a local resident or a traveler exploring the Galilee, the atmosphere is welcoming and geared toward providing a satisfying, budget-friendly dining experience.

Visitors can expect a menu centered around the staple of Israeli cuisine: hummus. About the area

Tiberias is one of the four holy cities in Jewish tradition, and Hummus Eliyahu sits within its historic urban core. Situated on Hayarkon Street, the restaurant is just blocks away from the shores of the Sea of Galilee (the Kinneret). This central location makes it an ideal stop for those visiting the numerous holy sites and synagogues located in the Old City of Tiberias.

The neighborhood is characterized by its proximity to both the bustling commercial areas and the serene waterfront. Walking through these streets, one is surrounded by layers of Jewish history, dating back to the period of the Mishnah and Talmud. The ease of access via Hayarkon Street ensures that it is reachable for those traveling by public transport or those exploring the city on foot.

Proximity to local accommodations and hotels along the coast means that Jewish travelers often find this location convenient for a quick lunch or an early dinner during their stay. The area is well-populated with religious infrastructure, including several active minyanim and local markets that cater to the kosher consumer throughout the week.

Nearby Jewish landmarks

The Hayarkon Street area is perfectly positioned for those wishing to combine a meal with spiritual or historical sightseeing. A short walk leads to the Graves of the Maimonides (Kever HaRambam), a significant pilgrimage site for the Jewish community. This site attracts visitors year-round who come to pray and reflect at the resting place of one of Judaism's greatest scholars.

Adjacent to the restaurant is the Tiberias Promenade, which runs along the shore of the Kinneret. This area is home to several historic synagogues, including the Abulafia Synagogue (Etz Chaim), which has served the local community for centuries. Visitors can enjoy the refreshing lake breeze while exploring the various Judaica shops and local stalls that line the waterfront.

For those spending a full day in the city, the nearby archaeological park offers a glimpse into Tiberias’ status as one of the four holy cities of Israel. Many travelers find that a stop at Hummus Eliyahu provides a convenient and central base before heading toward the southern part of the lake for a visit to the historic cemetery or the various hot springs (Hammat Tiberias) located a short drive away.
