Halachic note

Santiago follows the local custom of lighting candles 18 minutes before sunset. The Shabbat-end time shown uses tzeit hakochavim (8.5°). A 72-minute alternative is also shown for those who follow that opinion.

Santiago is home to Chile's largest Jewish community, a vibrant blend of Ashkenazi and Sephardic traditions centered in the Las Condes and Vitacura districts. Shabbat observance is focused on synagogue life and pre-ordered kosher meals, as there is no public eruv.
