Punta del Este follows the local custom of lighting candles 18 minutes before sunset. The Shabbat-end time shown uses tzeit hakochavim (8.5°). A 72-minute alternative is also shown for those who follow that opinion.

Punta del Este has a small year-round Jewish community that grows significantly with tourists from across Latin America during the summer (Dec-Feb). Shabbat observance is centered around Chabad and several synagogues, with ample kosher options in summer but very limited services in the off-season.
