Halachic note

Cambridge follows the local custom of lighting candles 18 minutes before sunset. The Shabbat-end time shown uses tzeit hakochavim (8.5°). A 72-minute alternative is also shown for those who follow that opinion.

Cambridge has a small, intellectually vibrant Jewish community centred around its historic university. Shabbat observance is focused on the single Orthodox synagogue in the city centre, with kosher provisions requiring advance planning as there are no dedicated kosher shops.
